Over the course of six days, 40+ street and graffiti artists overtook an empty brownstone in Manhattan’s East Village. Organized by street artist Hanksy, Surplus Candy was unique in the fact that it featured artists currently making up the street art scene in NYC, not those sitting upon it. It was unsanctioned and illegal and in the end, left open to the public for only two hours. Below you will find a short “making of” video that moves along at a breakneck pace. The exact momentum Surplus Candy embodied.
Love Tunnel – NYC
Photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya and a team of 30 people installed a Valentine to New York City in the 14th street subway tunnel between 6th and 7th Avenues. The group posted several hundred photos up and down the walls of people kissing, colorful flowers and romantic scenery. These pictures were then free for the public to take along with them.

Celebrated tattoo artists including Mike Demasi, London Reese, George Maviridis and Moni Marino converged on the studio space of master figure artist Wilson Guevera, where they took place in three intense days of drawing, painting, and art education together, the first time in history such a gathering has taken place.
